In collaboration with the Senior Engineer or Project/Business Director, you’ll work closely with Mechanical and Electrical engineers in the Project Team. Leveraging technical support from Senior Engineers or the Project/Business Director, your role will encompass various essential tasks, including:

Job Summary:

  • Act as the Mechanical Engineer on selected projects, overseeing Mechanical Design, reporting workloads and priorities, internal project coordination, administration, and client liaison.
  • Serve as a key member of the project team, responsible for the design and its quality.
  • Assist the project lead in advising on resourcing and workload within the projects Mechanical team, managing design goals, attending weekly team meetings, and enhancing team efficiency and productivity.
  • Promote a positive ‘can-do’ attitude within the MEP design team, ensuring it is ingrained in every project.

Duties:

  • Operate on multiple projects, organising tasks to meet assigned deadlines agreed with the project lead.
  • Independently conduct full detailed mechanical design, with support from the project lead.
  • Perform calculation works to validate design for domestic, ventilation, heating, and cooling systems.
  • Coordinate design with electrical design members.
  • Participate in design team meetings, reporting progress and actions to the wider design team.
  • Manage personnel design workloads, providing completed works to the Project lead for QA in a timely manner.
  • Continually seek ways to improve work efficiency and team productivity.
  • Adopt the most up-to-date practices and be innovative in their application.
  • Assist sustainability engineers with modelling input data and criteria, including reviewing completed reports.
  • Actively engage in teamwork, promote consultation and collaboration with team members.
  • Contribute to the development of junior team members.
  • Demonstrate interest in and seek ways to develop knowledge in other engineering disciplines.
  • Ensure adherence to all QA procedures and guidelines.
  • Participate in the design verification process within the team, self-checking work before issuing for QA.

Client Management:

  • Ensure client satisfaction with performance and service quality.
  • Address and resolve client concerns and problems promptly, efficiently, and courteously.
  • Establish and maintain good working relationships with clients, assessing and acting upon their current and future needs.

Technical Ability:

  • Have a working understanding of current building regulations, CIBSE documentation, British standards, BSRIA documentation, and other design guides in the building services industry.
  • Be IT literate, with a working knowledge of office, AutoCAD, Hevacomp.
  • Work towards Member of CIBSE accreditation.
  • A minimum of 3-4 years’ experience in the associated specialism is expected for candidates to be suitable for this role, ensuring exposure to all technical aspects and a solid understanding of the industry.
