Control Systems Engineer (Lancashire)
A leading provider of low-energy, low-CO2 drying technologies, focusing on improving efficiency and reducing environmental impact, is currently looking for a Control Systems Engineer to join their team in Lancashire. This role offers a competitive salary range of £55,000 – £70,000, depending on experience.
Job Overview: As a Control Systems Engineer, you will oversee the design, maintenance, and commissioning of control systems, with a focus on electrical maintenance. You will ensure the optimal performance of electrical infrastructure and manage the lifecycle of new installations, including Functional Design Specifications (FDS), Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT).
Key Responsibilities:
- Control Systems Engineering:
- Design, program, and maintain PLCs and SCADA systems.
- Modify control system logic for operational efficiency.
- Troubleshoot and minimize downtime for control systems.
- Electrical Maintenance:
- Manage preventive and corrective maintenance of site electrical systems.
- Repair and optimize electrical equipment to avoid disruptions.
- Establish maintenance schedules and safety protocols.
- Site Commissioning & Testing:
- Lead site commissioning for new equipment and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Prepare and review FDS in collaboration with project teams.
- Conduct FAT and SAT to verify system integrity and readiness for operations.
- Project Collaboration & Documentation:
- Work with cross-functional teams to align system design with operational needs.
- Maintain documentation for electrical systems and commissioning records.
- Provide technical training to the maintenance and production teams.
- Safety & Compliance:
- Ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental standards.
- Participate in risk assessments and HAZOPs.
Qualifications:
- Degree in Electrical or Control Systems Engineering or related field.
- Proven experience in control systems (PLC, SCADA) and electrical maintenance.
- Experience with pneumatic controls, temperature, flow, and pressure instrumentation.
- Hands-on experience with FDS, FAT, and SAT.
- Knowledge of industry standards and regulations (IEC, IEEE, OSHA).
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
Preferred Experience:
- Background in industrial or manufacturing settings.
- Familiarity with safety-related systems (SIS) and risk assessment procedures.
- Knowledge of project management practices.
